The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has announced that the 2015 Malaysia Cup will begin on September 11.
The kick-off date for the 89th edition of the oldest national cup competition in Asia was confirmed by the FAM on Wednesday.
The tournament will consist of 16 teams, featuring the top 10 teams in the Malaysian Super League and the top four teams in the Malaysian Premier League.
The other two teams will be decided via play-offs on a neutral ground on August 25, pitting the team finishing 11th in the Super League with sixth in the Premier League, and 12th in the Super League with fifth in the Premier League.
Pahang are the current holders after retaining the trophy last season by beating Johor Darul Ta'zim on penalties, while Selangor are the most successful Malaysia Cup winners, having won it 32 times.
Singapore's representatives LionsXII will be looking to win their first Malaysia Cup, after being knocked out in the group stages last year.
