Tan Sri Annuar Musa has asked Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah to reconsider his decision to step down as President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
Tengku Abdullah announced that he will step down in stages following Malaysia’s embarrassing 10-0 defeat to the United Arab Emirates earlier this month.
However, the Kelantan supremo urged him not to act in haste.
"I understand that [Tengku Abdullah] will resign as FAM President," he posted on his Facebook account shortly after the announcement.
"It is indeed a gentlemanly decision, but the Crown Prince of Pahang shouldn't have been blamed [entirely because] the FAM should shoulder [everything] collectively.
“[Furthermore] the resignation of the president will only further weaken and distress the association.
“The most important thing right now is to fix the current issues.
“[So] we hope that, in the name of Malaysian football development, he will reconsider his decision.”
Annuar Musa also highlighted that Tengku Abdullah has contributed a lot to Malaysian football as well as on the international football scene.comments
