Singapore international defender Baihakki Khaizan will be sitting out the rest of the Malaysian Super League (MSL) season after being dropped from the JDT first team.
The 2013 MSL 'Best Defender' award winner will also play for JDT II next season, potentially joining national captain Shahril Ishak who has been turning out for them this year.
The 30-year-old took to Instagram to announce his abrupt departure: "Goodbye to all my friends, on and off the pitch, at Johor. I would like to say thank you for the chance of wearing the JDT jersey as my time with the team reached its end."
"I never thought that things would end up like this, but it was a decision made by the coaching staff. I hope that my team-mates will continue to fight to the end.
"I will be rested for the time being and I will see you all again at JDT II next season. Hopefully these changes will help JDT to achieve greater heights."
His shock demotion followed Cesar Ferrando Jimenez replacing Bojan Hodak as the new head coach at Stadium Larkin due to a string of bad performances in the league.
JDT management could not be reached for comment at time of press.
Baihakki moved to the Southern Tigers from 2013 Malaysian Super League champions LionsXII last year along with teammate Hariss Harun.
