Despite being named in the squad to face Syria U23s on Saturday, LionsXII duo Faris Ramli and Sahil Suhaimi will report for Malaysian Super League duty.
It is proving to be a prosperous festive season for Fandi Ahmad after all, with Sahil and Faris available for selection against Perak FA.
Despite the clash with Singapore U23s friendly match against Syria U23s, the LionsXII head coach confirmed that the pair would be travelling to Malaysia for this Saturday's game.
It is a timely boost for the team, with Khairul Nizam and Sufian Anuar suffering injuries in their 2-0 defeat to Kelantan last week.
"I am very happy to have them back," Fandi told FourFourTwo on Thursday morning.
"Of course, with the injuries in the last match, it is even more important that we have Sahil and Faris with us for the trip."
With Perak currently boasting a 100 percent record after two matches, with two wins and two clean sheets, Fandi feels that Faris' qualities are vital to his team's chances.
"Against Kelantan, we missed Faris because we did not offer much going forward so this is a big boost," he said
"He is able to open up the defence and we want to exploit Perak's weaknesses down the flanks with him."
Sahil scored on debut with a sumptuous free-kick against PDRM FA and his coach also believes he might well be a trump card because the opposition know so little about him.
"I am hoping for him to spring a surprise. Sahil is an unknown quantity because he has not played in the league before but we know he has the quality to trouble any side," Fandi said.
"I have yet to decide if he will start. We have one more [training] session in Perak and then I will see if he will or not but he gives us a really good option."comments
