FAS to appoint head coach by end of May

The Football Association of Singapore revealed it is one step closer to announcing a new national head coach...

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) hopes to announce a new national head coach by the end of May, as the search for Bernd Stange's replacement reaches its end stage.

Previously, it was reported that Tampines Rovers head coach V.Sundramoorthy would take the reins on an interim basis and lead the team in June when the Lions participated in a four-team tournament in Myanmar.

However, the FAS did not provide any confirmation and only said that the search for a new coach was still ongoing.

“We are at an advanced stage of the recruitment process, and expect to announce the appointment of the new coach by the end of May," FAS said in a statement released on their website.

A possible candidate who could be the new national team's coach was former LionsXII head coach Fandi Ahmad. The Singapore football legend has been helping out with the national team since his team exited all Malaysian competition and disbanded.
