English Premier League superstars Rio Ferdinand and Sergio 'Kun' Aguero have spoken glowingly of their visit to Singapore.
Both the Manchester United defender and Manchester City striker appeared to enjoy their time during their short stay in the city-state.
35-year-old Ferdinand, here in Singapore for the second time in two years, spoke highly of the passion for football Singaporeans had, as well as the culture and food.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Ferdinand acknowledged Singapore as a great place to visit.
“The fans (here) are very passionate, they love the Premier League, they love Manchester United," the former England international said.
"The minute we stepped off the plane it was crazy, (there were) loads of people in the airport and my wife was like 'does this normally happen' and I said you are in Asia, this is what happens in Asia.
“It’s a great place to come, I enjoy it and I love it. The culture is fantastic; we’ve enjoyed the food and the people. It really is a great experience and one I always enjoy.”
Both English Premier League stars were here for Singtel’s Game On! Challenge, where they went through a series of challenges - including lunch at the popular Maxwell Food Centre, located in the heart of Chinatown.
As well as tasting a variety of local dishes, the two footballers had a taste of durian.
“It has been the thing I’ve enjoyed most in Singapore,” Manchester City and Argentina striker Aguero declared through a translator, when asked what he had loved the most about Singapore.
Ferdinand though, opted for another item on the menu.
“The carrot cake was really nice, that was my favorite,” he revealed.comments
