Kraljevic: We need to win at all cost
The Tigers are enduring their worst start to the S.League campaign since 2008, when they only earned two points from eight games. Balestier are winless in the league in 2016 and have three points so far from the same number of games.
Of the five losses Balestier have suffered, the first was a 1-0 defeat handed to them by the Young Lions in both teams’ opening game of the campaign.
As such, even if it means playing “ugly” football, Kraljevic is determined to get a win over the team perceived by many to be the weakest in the league.
“Any win, even if it’s by playing unattractively, is my target,” Kraljevic told FourFourTwo. “We need to win at all cost.
“We lost a few games in a row and morale is down, so now we must rise. Only with hard work can we win, and we must win tomorrow; we have no choice, we need to close the gap with the other teams.
“I am very confident my team can get the win, so we don't need to think about losing.”
Balestier will urgently need their players to up their level of performance, particularly that of Miroslav Kristic, who has not scored in the eleven games he played in yet.
The striker even missed two penalties during the same period.
“I really hope Kristic can’t have forgotten how to score overnight. Hopefully this drought will end for him tomorrow,” Kraljevic said.
But the Balestier coach added that Kristic’s teammates too must help shoulder the burden of scoring goals.
“Other players need to step up. I don't want to point the finger at anyone, but our final passes are not sharp,” he said.
“Our defence is decent but our attack has been lacking and we have been working on it all week.”
