Geylang broke the deadlock midway through the first half at Hougang Stadium via captain Jozef Kaplan, who slammed home the rebound after his initial shot from Bruno Castanheira’s reverse pass was parried by Ridhuan Barudin.
The Eagles doubled their advantage eight minutes after the restart, with provider Castanheira turning scorer as he headed home an inch-perfect left-wing cross by Tatsuro Inui inside the six-yard box.
However, they were unable to hold out for the win as returning forward Diego Gama scored a brace in the final six minutes to salvage an unlikely draw.
The Brazilian first outjumped Geylang keeper Yazid Yasin to a long ball before slamming the ball into an empty net, then rose the highest to nod home Vuk Sotirovic’s outswinging corner deep into injury time.

Over at Jalan Besar Stadium, it was a much more straightforward affair with holders DPMM dominating from start to finish.
Winger Maududi Hilmi broke the deadlock on 12 minutes, firing a superb low drive beyond SRC keeper Zainol Gulam from inside the box.
Paulo Sergio made it two five minutes after the break, latching to a neat Joe Gamble pass before slamming home from close range.
It was his strike partner Rafael Ramazotti’s turn shortly later as he scored two within the space of three minutes, heading home Sergio’s left-wing cross at the far post before ruthlessly finishing off the latter’s through pass.
Scottish centre-back Brian McLean then darted into the six-yard box to glance home Najib Tarif’s corner, rounding off their scoring for the night.
