Malaysian Super League Wrap: LionsXII win eight-goal thriller to go top

Fandi Ahmad and his boys began their season with a spectacular 5-3 win over PDRM at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Goals from Gabriel Quak, Faris Ramli, Izzdin Shafiq, Hafiz Sujad and Sahil Suhaimi saw them go 5-0 up after 67 minutes.

Despite PDRM forward Dramane Traore scoring a hat-trick to set up a nervy finish, the home side’s big lead was too big to overcome.

The win saw the 2013 champions overtake Johor Darul Ta'zim, who beat Pahang 2-0 last week, at the top of the league table on the number of goals scored.

Another goal fest was witnessed at the Selayang Stadium as Felda United and Sarawak played out an entertaining 3-3 draw.

It looked like Edward Junior Wilson had sealed the win for the Fighters in the 85th when he headed home a rebound to make it 3-2, but 30-year-old Shahrol Saperi made sure Sarawak go home with a point with a strike deep into the stoppage time.

Bojan Miladinovic, Ndumba Makeche, Billy Mehmet and Hairol Mokhtar were the other goal-scorers in that game.

Elsewhere, Terengganu striker Paulo Rangel could not cap off his reunion with Selangor with a goal, but his side managed to beat the Super League runners-up 2-0 thanks to fine strikes from Ismail Faruqi and Gustavo Lopez.

The 2-0 score-line proved to be a popular one this week, as Kelantan and Perak beat ATM and Sime Darby respectively with the same margin.
