Gaizka Mendieta believes that the upcoming La Liga clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona will be the biggest Clasico match to date.
League leaders Barcelona will travel to the Spanish capital with a four-point advantage over their arch-rivals on October 26.
“We could not ask for a better timing [for the Clasico match] because both teams are doing so well at the moment,” said the former Barcelona man, who played for the club in the 2002-03 season.
The Catalans have yet to concede a goal in the league, while the men from Madrid have scored 30 goals in eight league games, with the in-form Cristiano Ronaldo grabbing half of them.
“In terms of talents, we could possibly be witnessing the biggest Clasico match ever," he added.
“If you look at the players who will be on the pitch this Sunday like Lionel Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo and James Rodriguez, the match could possibly feature 22 of the best 50 players in the world.
“This is why El Clasico is so special, as there is no other match in this world where you can put some of the most talented players together on a same pitch as if it is a Playstation game.”
When asked for a match prediction, Mendieta said: “Although Real will be playing at home, I believe Barca can get something out of it."comments
