The Football Association of Singapore has announced that former Omiya Ardija assistant Takuya Inoue has joined the National Football Academy coaching ranks.

Inoue was assistant manager under Slovenian coach Zdenko Verdenik at the J.League side from 2011 to 2013, and had previous youth and senior coaching stints at JEF United Ichihara Chiba and J.League 2 side Brummel Sendai (now Vegalta Sendai).

The 47-year-old will take charge of the NFA Under-18 team on a one-year contract, renewable for another year.

Conversant in English and German in addition to his native language, Inoue has a Japan Football Association (JFA) 'A' Coaching License, the equivalent of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 'A' Coaching License.

He will report to the FAS Technical Director while tasked with identifying youth players for further development with NFA sides, recommending promising youth players for overseas attachments on top of his primary role of coaching the NFA U18s.
