TSF: Top spot still up for grabs after Mongolia leg

Cambodian team Daniel FC and Vietnamese defending champions Dat Vinh Tienh are still tightly contesting top spot in the Tiger Street Football 2014 tournament after the second leg in Mongolia.

Asia's eight best street football teams were in Ulaanbaatar on Friday as ambassador Deco flew in to oversee proceedings, and the hordes of fans who turned up were certainly not disappointed.

After a day of exciting matches, Daniel FC lead their closest rivals by a single point going into the last leg in Singapore on September 6.

Deco also ended the day by selecting two more picks for his Star Selection to take on him and his friends at the Grand Final in Singapore.

Turbat Daginaa from Mongolian team Blue Wolves and Phon Chanudom from Daniel FC were chosen as the two performers from this leg of the tournament, joining Dani Kouch (Daniel FC) and Khong Ding Hung (Dat Vinh Tienh) in the team to face Deco and four ex-Portugal international teammates (Nuno Gomes, Vitor Baia, Maniche, Paulo Ferreira).

"This was my first time in Mongolia and I did not expect Mongolians to be so passionate about their football," Deco said.

"It was very hard for me to select the best two players from this round but eventually I decided on a Mongolian defender and a Cambodian goalkeeper who have impressed me with their skills.

"For the Star Selection team, I now have a playmaker and striker selected from the first leg in Cambodia and with these two additions, I will look to complete the team with the final two selections next week in Singapore."

The former Barcelona and Chelsea playmaker also had nothing but praise for the fans who came to watch the event on Friday.

"I would like to add that the energy from all of the teams and the enthusiasm displayed by the Mongolian fans today were fantastic," he said.

"I had an unforgettable time in this beautiful country of Blue Sky."
