• This is the 15th Bundesliga meeting between Mainz and Dortmund – FSV haven’t won any of the last six encounters (D1 L5), with the last four matches against BVB all ending in defeat.
  • Tuchel’s side have won three of their last four games and moved up to seventh place in the league table after their 3-2 win in Bremen.
  • BVB have lost their last two Bundesliga matches – they now trail FC Bayern by seven points following their 3-0 loss to the record champions and even dropped behind Leverkusen in the table.

  • Jürgen Klopp only featured for Mainz during his professional playing career. His first post as a manager was also at FSV. He was in charge there between February 2001 and June 2008 and led Mainz to their first ever Bundesliga promotion in 2004.
  • The current BVB manager has faced his former club eight times and has lost just once (W5 D2). His first trip to Mainz as Dortmund manager ended in a 1-0 defeat on April 10th 2010 thanks to Adam Szalai’s goal.
