• Hamburg are unbeaten against Hertha in 10 Bundesliga home games (W7, D3). HSV's last home defeat to Berlin was in January 2001 (2-1 – Michael Preetz scored twice for Hertha).
  • Against no other Bundesliga side are HSV currently on a longer unbeaten run at home than they are against Hertha (W7, D3).
  • HSV are the only side yet to score in 2014 (conceding six so far). Hamburg and Hertha are still without a point this calendar year – Wolfsburg, Stuttgart and Gladbach are the only other sides with the same record.
  • For the first time in over 43 years, Hamburg have lost five Bundesliga games in a row – a new record beckons for HSV, as they have never lost six successive matches in Germany's top flight.
  • HSV find themselves in a direct relegation spot (17th) for the first time this season. The last time Hamburg were as low in the table during the second half of a season was in 2006/07 (after 22 games), but they climbed up to seventh under Huub Stevens.
  • With 44 goals conceded, HSV have the leakiest defence in the league and have now conceded more goals after 19 games than ever before in their Bundesliga history. They have conceded at least three goals in their last four matches, a run they have only suffered once before (April/May 1974).
  • HSV are without a win in their last 13 late Saturday kick-offs (D6, L7). No team has conceded more goals in late Saturday kick-offs than Hamburg: 37 in 20 matches.
  • Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who is on loan at HSV from Hertha, is hoping to make a comeback following his thigh injury – with nine goals to his name, he is Hamburg's top scorer this season.
  • With 12 goals to his name, Adrian Ramos is the league's top scorer – he has scored five goals in his last five games (always in the first 30 minutes). Ramos scored the game's only goal in Hertha's 1-0 win against HSV earlier this season.
  • Bert van Marwijk has won just three of his 13 Bundesliga matches as HSV manager (D3, L7) – of all Hamburg managers with at least 10 games in charge, only Michael Oenning (0.64) has a worse points-per-game average than van Marwijk (0.92).
