• Huub Stevens took over HSV ahead of matchday 20 in the 2006/07 season with the club bottom of the table. They went on to record nine wins, three draws and just three defeats and had moved from 18th to seventh by the end of the campaign.
  • Against no other team has Huub Stevens lost as many Bundesliga games as against Werder Bremen (13, no more than nine against any other side). However, he won his last three matches against them as Schalke manager.
  • Stuttgart haven't won any of their last nine Bundesliga games (D1 L8). The last time VfB had a longer winless streak was between March and May 1999 (10 games). The club record is 13 straight matches without a win in the first half of the 1966/67 season.
  • Bremen haven't lost any of their last four matches (W2 D2). Only Bayern are currently on a longer unbeaten run (49 games – Mainz also on 4). The last time Werder went longer without a defeat was over two years ago (five games between January and February 2012).
  • Werder haven't conceded in their last three games, a run they last achieved around four and a half years ago. They kept a clean sheet in five straight matches in September/October 2009.
  • VfB, on the other hand, haven't kept a clean sheet in their last 17 Bundesliga games, currently the longest run of its kind in the league. VfB have only waited more games for a clean sheet in 1969 (21 games albeit across two seasons).
  • Stuttgart have conceded at least two goals in each of their last 12 Bundesliga games. Only Offenbach in 1983/84, Hannover in 1985/86 and Kaiserslautern in 2005/06 have conceded at least two goals in 13 straight games before – all three were relegated.
  • With 20 points from 24 games, VfB are having the worst season in their Bundesliga history. They have only reached their current tally of 51 goals conceded at this point in a season once before, letting in 52 by this stage of the 1974/75 campaign, which ended in relegation.
  • Stuttgart have dropped 23 points from winning positions this season, a league high by far, with 14 in 2014 alone. No side dropped more than 21 points after taking the lead in games during the whole of last season (Borussia Dortmund).
  • Bremen have lost just one of their 12 games against sides currently in the bottom half of the table (W5 D6) – a 3-0 defeat to Frankfurt in mid-September. 21 of Werder's 28 points so far this season have come against those teams.
