Pablo Zabaleta

The full-back has become a mainstay for Manchester City since joining the club in 2008, making over 200 appearances in eight seasons with the Citizens so far.

He was an integral part of the 2012 and 2014 title-winning squads and was even among the goalscorers in the 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the 2011/12 season that allowed City to snatch the English Premier League title from underneath rivals Manchester United’s noses.

He was also named the club’s Player of the Season in 2013, highlighting the impact he’s had on the blue half of Manchester.

On the international front, however, it hasn’t all been smooth-sailing for Zabaleta. He was not selected in the final squad by then-head coach Diego Maradona for the 2010 World Cup, but has found his place in the side since then, amassing 54 caps so far.

He has also captained Argentina on a few occasions since first donning the armband against Nigeria in a June 2011 friendly. – By Nigel Chin
