Jess Clarke: I didn't live in the best area – a bad lifestyle would have been easy

Notts County midfielder explains her pathway to WSL fame...

"My route into football wasn't easy. I come from a single-parent home; it was difficult to get to training and games.

"No one played in my family and I didn't live in the best area. It would have been easy to get sucked into another lifestyle.

"As soon as I saw a football I fell in love with it. My mum was a strong influence, and I've always felt like she sacrificed her dreams so I could live mine. In my many ways, that's where my determination and hunger come from. Whoever wins this summer will be the most prepared team and I strongly believe we're in contention. The women's game is really pushing on and I hope we can do well to continue this."
