Snapshot from Brazil: Brazil's biggest fan
We are part of The Trust Project What is it?
Nelson Paviotti, 63, is a lawyer from Campinas in Sao Paolo State. He’s also a supporter of his national team. A very serious supporter. In 1994 he promised to wear only yellow, green, blue and white for the rest of his life – if Brazil won the FIFA World Cup™. They beat Italy on penalties and 20 years later, much to the admiration of friends and family, he’s kept his promise. His wardrobe, car, home and office is a Seleção theme park. We took an Xperia Z1 Compact to capture Nelson’s obsession.
Even in the dimmest light, Nelson remains beacon bright – but smartphone cameras often can’t cope in these conditions. The Xperia Z1 Compact shot this with a high ISO number (800) and long exposure, yet the image is crisp and – crucially – colourful.
Eating his greens, yellows, whites and blues
Nelson’s support dominates his kitchen. He only eats food that is in his nation’s colours of yellow, green, white and blue – which is more healthy than it might first sound: it does, after all, give him a lot of scope for eating vegetables.
The Xperia Z1 Compact Superior Auto mode captured this bright dinner in the low, unnatural light of Nelson’s dining room, with no need to fiddle around with settings and accessories.
Nelson drives to work and court each day with Brazil’s anthem on his loudspeakers. We shot Nelson on a Saturday when he drives around town purely for fun, to put a smile on people’s faces. The Motion Detection automatically chose higher shutter speeds to capture blur-free images of Nelson on the move.
