Amri comes back to bite JDT, Kedah stunned by Kelantan
Amri, who returned to Selangor in May, won three Malaysia Super League (MSL) titles with the Southern Tigers and was unable to face JDT during his brief spell at Melaka United earlier this year because of a "gentleman's agreement".
Selangor's 3-2 win at Selayang Stadium put Selangor on seven points in Group D followed by JDT (four points), Terengganu (two) and Sarawak (one). The Turtles and Crocs held each other 0-0.
At Selayang, Amri opened the scoring in the 24th minute while rare starter Fairuz Abdul Aziz doubled the lead before half-time.
JDT pulled one back through Ahmad Hazwan Bakri and Darren Lok in the second half but Amri scored the winner from the spot.
The other shock of the night came in Kota Bahru where a struggling Kelantan stunned FA Cup winners Kedah.
The Red Warriors ended a three-match losing streak (in all competitions) with a 3-1 win.
Strikes by midfielder Margaro Gomes and June signing Abou Bakr Al-Mel put the hosts ahead in the second half but Liridon Krasniqi pulled one back with an 84th-minute penalty. Abou Bakr however settled matters with his second in the night.
Kedah still lead Group C but only just as they are level on six points with Melaka, who defeated UiTM 2-1, and Kelantan.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Cup debutants PKNP continued their impressive start after defeating Negeri Sembilan 2-0 to pull clear in Group A.
The Ipoh-based club lead the group on seven points. Pahang are in second with three points followed by T-Team and Pahang.
Group A: PKNP 2 Negeri Sembilan 0; T-Team 1 Pahang 1
Group B: Felda 1 Perak 1; PKNS 0 KL 0
Group C: Kelantan 3 Kedah 1; Melaka 2 UiTM 1
Group D: Selangor 3 JDT 2; Sarawak 0 Terengganu 0
