The FFTASIA50: Players by league

In which countries do the FFTASIA50 ply their trade?

We are part of The Trust Project What is it?

The Bundesliga has the most representatives in our first list of the Best 50 Players from Asia, with eight footballers in Germany's top division and one in the 2. Bundesliga.

Our top two players, Son Heung-min and Shinji Okazaki turn out for Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz 05 respectively.

It's hardly surprising given how the Bundesliga has proved an enticing gateway to Europe for Asia's finest over the years.

What's slightly more startling is the Chinese Super League followingly closely behind – Tim Cahill leads a list of six players who have chosen to play their football in China.

While there are three representatives in the English Premier League (Mile Jedinak at Crystal Palace, Ki Sung-yueng at Swansea City and Maya Yoshida at Southampton), there are also two in Football League One thanks to Swindon Town's Massimo Luongo and Yaser Kasim.
