FFT's Malaysia Super League Team of the Month

The action in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) intensified last month as Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) took themselves to the brink of a third consecutive league title, which was ultimately secured last Friday. FourFourTwo’s writers in Malaysia list their best 11 for August…

Ifwat Akmal Che Kassim (Kedah)

Ifwat’s polished performances helped Kedah go unbeaten in four matches last month. The 20-year-old, who dislodged Farhan Abu Bakar as Kedah’s No.1 in July, is agile and very good in the air.

He let in only two goals in August and subsequently caught the eye of national under-22 coach Frank Bernhardt who included the youngster in his latest training camp.

Shahrul Saad (Perak)

Perak can thank Shahrul, 23, for their excellent defensive record in August. The team conceded only two goals in four matches thanks to the inspiring youngster’s performances in the heart of defence.

Strong in the tackle and excellent in the air, the defender keeps things together under even the most intense pressure.

Aidil Zafuan Radzak (JDT)

Aidil Zafuan proved his worth at both ends of the pitch for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) last month.

Known for his good reading of the game and timely tackles, Aidil proved the hero in the 3-2 win over Felda United when the centre-back scored the winning goal in the crucial MSL match on August 24.

Bang Seung-Hwan (Kedah)

The South Korean has had his off days for Kedah – including irking coach Tan Cheng Hoe in the past – but he has formed the backbone of the Red Eagles’ defence and scored the winner against Selangor on August 6.

That match put the Northerners in the driving seat for a third-place league finish.

Bang was part of a defence that kept two clean sheets and conceded only twice en route to collecting maximum points in four matches.
