Johor Darul Ta'zim vs Selangor

Sat Feb 13 | Larkin Stadium | 9pm

Last meeting: JDT 3 Selangor 1 (July 13, 2015; MSL)

Player to watch: Safiq Rahim (JDT); Patrick Wleh (Selangor)

Billed as: Battle of the champions

Summary: Reigning league champions JDT have a chance to put down a marker for the 2016 season as, on paper at least, they won't find stronger opponents than Selangor.

The 2015 Malaysia Cup champions have boosted their squad with experienced players and installed former Pahang coach Zainal Abidin Hassan in the dugout. The Red Giants don't look like the finished article just yet, however, and couldn't have asked for a tougher MSL opener. JDT have already played in an AFC Champions League qualifier and their performance in the penalty shootout defeat to Muangthong United indicates they are ready to commence their bid for a hat-trick of MSL titles.

FFT Prediction: JDT 2 Selangor 1
