Malaysia Cup, Group B: Three MSL teams looking to make amends
Position in MSL: Fourth
2016 Malaysia Cup: Group stage
Key Players: Hafiz Kamal, Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak and Leandro Dos Santos
The Bos Gaurus equipped their squad well by signing several established players but their form is far from consistent, recording only one win in their last eight matches since Mehmet Durakovic replaced Karl Weigang in February.
Durakovic has turned to a trusted player in Leandro Dos Santos to beef up the squad. The Brazilian was part of the Selangor side that the former coached to the Malaysia Cup trophy in 2015.
On paper, Perak are the best team in the group but they need to start winning matches in order to progress. Going by how Durakovic has lined up his teams in the past, defence will be the primary focus, making it hard for opponents to score.
Yet Perak need to grab their chances at the other end too, like Selangor did a couple of seasons ago.
Prediction: Edging PKNS for second place
Position in MSL: Seventh
2016 Malaysia Cup: Quarter-finalist
Key Players: Shukor Adan, Zah Rahan Krangar and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha
B. Satianathan took over from Azmi Mohamed in February and after a rocky start, he seems to have steadied the ship before the mid-season break, despite Argentine imports in Lucas Cano and Gaston Cellerino failing to perform.
The duo and centre-back Mootaz Jounaidi were shipped off as Satianathan tried several imports before settling for Australian defender Dino Djulbic, Brazilian poacher Thiago Fernandes and Nigerian forward Ifedayo Omosuyi.
The experienced Satiananthan is a stern coach and will demand full commitment of his players.
Prediction: Top of Group B
