MSL 2017: The teams yet to fill their import quotas

We are part of The Trust Project What is it?

The return of Francis Forkey Doe – 2016’s third highest MSL goal scorer – to Selangor is among the unexplainable things in Malaysian football.

How could a club that is expected to struggle and perhaps battle relegation, be able to sign one of Malaysia’s 2016 top marksman?

Selangor have proceeded with the transfer despite being caught in a financial mess which forced the departure of Shahrom Kalam, Ahmad Hazwan Bakri, Hafiz Kamal and R. Gopinathan.

Selangor, who have also retained Andik Vermansyah and Ugo Ukah, are also expected to re-sign Leandro dos Santos.

Leandro was released at the end of the 2015 season despite helping Selangor win the Malaysia Cup.

T-Team are in search for one more import after signing Uzbek forward Farhod Tadjiyev from Olmaliq. Farhod played for the Titans in 2015 but was released last year.

Rahmad Darmawan still has the services of Malian defender Abdoulaye Maiga and Uzbek Dilshod Sharofetdinov.

It is an open secret that MPL side Terengganu and T-Team share money from the same pot and there seems to be more emphasis placed on Terengganu making a comeback to the MSL instead of T-Team establishing their top-flight status.
