MSL Transfer Update: Pahang snap up Cambodian hotshot, KL wait for Shahrom and many more

Malaysia Super League (MSL) hopefuls Pahang have signed Cambodian hotshot Chan Vathanaka after his Japanese stint ended, while Perak have snatched Brendan Gan away from Kuala Lumpur, who are still hoping Shahrom Kalam will return. Here’s our latest transfer update.

IN: Syamer Kutty Abba (Penang), Adam Nor Azlin (Selangor), Luciano Figueroa (free agent), Jorge Pereyra Diaz (Club Leon), La’Vere Corbin-Ong (Go Ahead Eagles), Syafiq Ahmad (Kedah)

OUT: Azamuddin Akil, S. Chanthuru, R. Gopinanthan, Gonzalo Cabrera, Gabriel Guerra

Syafiq is the only addition to the Southern Tigers’ squad since our last update, but he is expected to be loaned out to Europe.

JDT revealed last week they will be sending Hasbullah Abu Bakar, Syafiq and Syamer to Portugal, but the identity of the club has not been revealed. The Southern Tigers are also in the market for a foreign player to fill the Asian import quota.

OUT: Zachary Anderson, Ken Ilso, Fitri Omar , Syazuan Hazani, Farhan Abu Bakar, Ahmad Fakri Saarani, Farhan Abu Bakar, Syafiq Ahmad

There are no new additions at Kedah but having confirmed Spaniard Ramon Marcote as their new coach, the Red Eagles are expected to announce some new signings in the coming weeks.

Marcote was previously assistant to Tan Cheng Hoe in 2015 when the club won the MPL and finished runners-up to Selangor in the Malaysia Cup. He also took charge of the team when Tan was away completing his AFC Pro License for several weeks that year.

The club has confirmed it is looking at several players from Brazil, Spain, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Ilso is among those to have departed

The Red Warriors have signed several local players for their squad, but the additions seem like an effort to beef up their reserves instead of bolstering the starting 11.

The most notable addition is 23-year-old former JDT II forward Shafiq, who is the son of former international Shaharuddin Abdullah. Shafiq burst into the scene in 2015 with his goals in the second tier but his form has taken a dip over the past of couple of years.

Kelantan are looking to sign two more foreigners before the season commences in February. They are in talks with former Negeri Sembilan and Melaka United hitman Marko Simic.

Firdaus Faudzi has joined KL from Terengganu

IN: Saiful Nizam Miswan (Pahang), Firdaus Faudzi (Terengganu), Indra Putra Mahayuddin (Kelantan), Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak (Perak), Junior Aparecido (free agent)

Kuala Lumpur have revealed most of their 2018 squad and are still keeping their fingers crossed that Malaysia international Shahrom Kalam agrees to join them.

The City Boys may have missed out on Brendan Gan but they have signed Zaquan and Indra Putra to add experience to the squad upon their top-flight return. KL initially denied they were in contact with the 36-year-old Indra.

According to Berita Harian, Fabio Maciel’s side is also in talks with Indonesian Achmad Jufriyanto to complete its foreign player allocation.
