The hosts controlled play for most parts of the match, but a slower second half allowed Selangor back into the game as Hafiz Kamal’s 60th minute free-kick cancelled out Hariss Harun’s first-half header.

The inclusion of new signing Juan Martin Lucero to the line-up proved a good call after he linked-up with compatriot Jorge Pererya Diaz on several occasions, only be stopped by Selangor’s tight defence and the brilliance of goalkeeper Norazlan Razali.

While new imports Patrick Wleh and Mauro Olivi made their competitive debuts, Selangor coach Zainal Abidin Hassan opted to leave former Pahang duo Razman Roslan and R. Gopinathan on the bench, stating he didn’t want to upset the balance against an opponent the calibre of JDT.

Selangor travel to Perak next up, while JDT visit T-Team at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Stadium.
