Not their Aidil choice: Kelantan and Felda not looking for new head coach
Aidil, who took charge of the Protectors in July 2016, has had a good year at Home United this season as his side sit third in the S.League and also reached the AFC Cup ASEAN zonal final. The Protectors are the second scoring domestic side in the league with 58 goals in 23 matches, just five less than winners Albirex Niigata.
Reports in Singapore have linked the up and coming 40-year-old to Felda, PKNS and Kelantan but a move to the MSL appears unlikely.
I am not aware of any talks with Aidil. His name has not popped up in any discussion Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) have had thus far
Kelantan, who have yet to decide who will take charge of the dugout in 2018, denied being in contact with the former Singaporean international.
"I am not aware of any talks with Aidil. His name has not popped up in any discussion Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) have had thus far," said KAFA general-secretary Hussin Deraman.
"Velizar Popov was an option but that is not happening now. We don’t have many options for a foreign coach. Interim coach Satit Benso, who still has a year left on his contract as assistant, has been informed to make preparations for the coming season but the management will finalise things soon."
Satiananthan, who has a year left running on his contract, took charge of the Fighters in February after their poor start to the 2017 campaign under Azmi Mohamed. Felda even collected more points than champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) in the second half of the season as they moved up to third in the standings.
Felda general-secretary Zulkarnain Muhammad insisted Satiananthan will remain as head coach and revealed that talks with Aidil was only for the Under-21 and Under-19 sides.
We are not looking for a head coach ... but there have been talks with a few candidates for the President's Cup and Youth Cup teams
"We are not looking for a head coach ... but there have been talks with a few candidates for the President's Cup and Youth Cup teams," said Zulkarnain.
"Aidil is one of them but nothing has been finalised, nor are we close to tying up any deals. Felda are considering a few options."
PKNS did not respond to FFT's queries.
The Red Ants have yet to name their new coach but FourFourTwo understands they have already lined-up former Malaysia coach K. Rajagopal, who has only had a brief spell with Sarawak (2016) since his contract with Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) ended in 2013.
