Same same but different: The 2018 Malaysia Super League jerseys and the kits they resemble

These days, it’s almost impossible for football clubs to avoid having jerseys which look alike. FourFourTwo takes a look at the kits of Malaysia Super League (MSL) sides, comparing them to overseas teams whose jerseys share similar designs...

We are part of The Trust Project What is it?

JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM

Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) have a home and away kit that would remind football fans of France and England's Euro 2016 jerseys.

The Southern Tigers' home effort is a blue kit with dark blue sleeves, a design reminiscent to the one worn by Les Blues two years ago. Likewise, their away kit, red with darker red sleeves, also has similarities to the England kit worn at the continental tournament.

But, it is their third kit which bears the most striking resemblance to that of another team - Thailand's Bangkok Glass.

KEDAH

There are not many jerseys too alike to the Red Eagles' red away kit, but the criss-cross pattern near the collar of the jersey reminds us of Ligue 1 side Lille OSC's home kit.

The French club also has a similar pattern near the top of their 2017/18 jersey. Kedah's kit, has a round neck collar while Lille's home kit has added buttons.

Kedah however, will want to avoid the fortunes of Lille, especially given how the 2010-2011 league champions now struggling in mid-table.

KELANTAN

Lotto have added a darker shade of red at the top of Kelantan's jersey which also covers the sleeves but that aside, Kelantan's jersey is akin to struggling Bundesliga club Mainz 05, who are also sponsored by the Italian brand.

The German club's home kit this season is predominantly red, with white sleeves while Kelantan have adopted an all red kit ala Liverpool.
