Dollah names new squad for Liverpool clash

Dollah Salleh was forced to tweak his Malaysia XI squad for the Liverpool match due to the unavailability of a few players.

All called up Selangor players – Robert Cornthwaite, Ahmad Hazwan Bakri, and Afiq Azmi – will not be featuring against Brendan Rodgers’ men after the Football Association of Selangor exercised their right of not letting go of them due to the Liverpool encounter being a non-international friendly.

Selangor manager Amirudin Shari previously commented that he wanted to rest the players so that they can recover from fatigue and prepare for the post-Raya fixtures.

In their places are Terengganu defender Vincent Bikana, Felda United winger Christie Jayaseelan and Harimau Muda starlet S. Kumaahran.

Pahang initially threatened to do the same as Selangor, but softened their stance in the end and allowed their players bar Dickson Nwakaeme to participate in the match.

Perak forward Chad Souza has been selected as Nwakaeme’s replacement.

Meanwhile, Ali Ashfaq has been dropped after picking up an injury and replaced with PKNS striker Patrick Wleh.

The rest of the squad reported for duty on Sunday and Dollah conducted the team’s first training session at the Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya on Monday.

The Malaysia XI side will take on Liverpool at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on July 24.
