Gan out for season with torn ACL

Brendan Gan will miss the rest of Kelantan’s season after injuring himself against ATM.

Shortly after just coming on as a substitute at half-time, the Australian-born midfielder tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) when he was challenging ATM winger Christie Jayaseelan for the ball.

His injury forced the Red Warriors to play with 10 men, having used all of their substitutions, but they managed to hold on for a 2-0 win.

Following the confirmation of his injury, head coach George Boateng commented: “We are so sorry to inform all our fans that it has been confirmed that Gan has completely torn his ACL in our opening match against ATM.

“He will not be able to play for us this season because of the recovery process of eight months for an ACL injury.

"Gan is a very important player for us and he will be a big miss for us this season.

"All of us here at the Red Warriors wish Brendan Gan a speedy recovery and look forward to have him back in the team.”

Ahead of the match against the LionsXII, Gan is not the only selection headache the former Dutch international has, as Noor Hazrul Mustafa, Nor Farhan Muhammad and Farisham Ismail all limped off in the opening gameweek as well.
