JDT and Pahang to meet in Malaysia Cup final

Malaysian Super League winners Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) and defending champions Pahang will face each other in the 2014 Malaysia Cup final.

JDT booked their place in the final after defeating Felda United 6-5 over two legs.

Trailing 4-3 heading into the return leg, the Southern Tigers immediately secured the initiative with a direct free kick from Luciano Figueroa.

Raimi Noor briefly restored Felda's advantage with an equaliser, but Figueroa struck again and Amri Yahyah pulled off a delicate chip over the Felda goalkeeper in the second half to ensure themselves of progression with a 3-1 win.

In the other semi-finals, a Matias Conti hat-trick and a brace by R. Gopinathan were enough for Pahang to overturn a two-goal deficit against Kedah as they beat the Red Eagle 5-0 at home to advance to the final.

JDT will now stand a chance of winning the prestigious tournament for the first time since 1991, while Pahang could become the first team to successfully defend the trophy since Kedah did it in 2008.

The final will take place on November 1.
