JDT to sign four new foreign imports

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will sign on four new foreign imports, with three players already being confirmed by the club.

Brian Ferreira will join the club from Independiente and will most probably replace the departing Jorge Pereyra Diaz.

Ferreira is 24 years old and formerly turned out for Argentina’s under-21 team. He would have preferred to continue his career in Argentina, but JDT convinced him to put pen to paper for a stint in Malaysia.

“FC Porto and Manchester have scouted him before, but he preferred staying in Argentina. We however made an offer and spoke in depth about our goals and project,” JDT head coach Mario Gomez said in a club statement.

“In turn, he decided to sign for JDT after hearing what the club is trying to build. Another reason why he was inclined to sign with us was because he was aware of the good Argentinian legends who used to play here, (such) as Luciano Figueroa and Pablo Aimar.

Ferreira said he was impressed by JDT’s standard of facilities and he was excited to help them make their mark on the regional stage.

“I promise to help JDT fulfill all the missions and visions set by the club. JDT are a great club of international standards with great, advanced and well-equipped facilities for the players,” Ferreria said.

“I'm confident that JDT will continue to progress and get more recognition domestically and internationally.”

JDT have also signed Gonzalo Cabrerra, who used to play for Boca Juniors before moving to the Middle East.

For JDT II, Boca’s Gabi Guerra will also join the club. The player used to play with PKNS and is familiar with the scene in Malaysia.
