Jitozono completes move to Sabah, Albirex bring in one defender

Albirex Niigata (S) midfielder Masaya Jitozono will move over to Malaysia for the 2017 season to play with Sabah after passing his medical examination.

Jitozono is slated to be joined by another S.League player, with Warriors FC Jonathan Behe reportedly on Sabah’s radar too.

Jitozono’s departure follows that of 2016 S.League Player of the Year Atsushi Kawata as well as Atsushi Shirota.

However, Albirex have moved to secure more young talents for the upcoming season, with Seiya Kato joining from Tokyo University of Agriculture.

Kato is a 22-year-old defender who will be making his professional bow if he features for the White Swans in the next campaign.

Seiya Kato has not play professionally before

Seeing the success of his compatriot Kawata, who has earned a move back to Japan, encouraged Kato and he hopes to be able to do the same.

“I’m honoured to be able to play football in this club,” Kato said in a club statement.

“I’m full of gratitude to my family, coaches and teammates who supported me.

“I will get used to a new environment as soon as possible and I will do my best to get regular football.”
