Liverpool's heritage-inspired kit available soon for Singaporean fans
The shirt has been launched by New Balance as part of the ‘Pure Liverpool FC’ campaign and pays homage to the club’s 125-year celebrations.
Using a darker red, similar to the all-red kit legendary manager Bill Shankly introduced half a century ago, the Liver bird is flanked with 1892 and 2017.
It has a white, v-neck collar and the tonal pin stripes are engineered into the weave of the fabric and acknowledge the club’s successful period in the early 1980s.
Fans in Singapore don’t have long to wait, with the new strip to be available from New Balance Suntec City Mall, New Balance Kallang Wave Mall, Western Corporation stores and selected authorised retailers from May 19.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson admits he can’t wait for the opportunity to lead the club onto the pitch next season wearing the smart new kit.
“There is a huge sense of pride that comes with wearing an LFC shirt and it is always an honour, but this kit is special,” he said.
“Our 125th anniversary is a great moment for us all to celebrate our heritage and this kit really reflects that, especially as it features the anniversary crest – we’ll wear it with pride.”
Liverpool is a club that has always given enormous respect to its history and the people that have built it into the globally recognised icon it is today.
New Balance were also acutely aware of the importance of the ‘Liverpool way’ when the new kit was being designed.
“This kit is a testament to the periods and events that have made Liverpool FC the club it is today,” said Richard Wright, general manger of New Balance Football.
“This year’s home kit is the perfect blend of heritage and modern technology, creating a look that is visually stunning and performs at the highest level.”
