Malaysia Cup fixtures may be postponed due to haze
According to Dato' Sri Afandi Hamzah, Deputy President of the FAM, certain fixtures may be postponed to future dates if the Air Pollutant Index (AQI) exceeds 150.
“We will monitor the API reading every hour before and during a match,” he said on Monday.
“If a Malaysia Cup venue is found to exceed 150, the respective match commissioner will have a discussion [with relevant parties] to decide whether or not the match should be postponed.
“If it is postponed, we will apply the rules as set by the Local Competitions Committee to determine the new date of any affected match.”
He also stated that the decision to postpone a match unfortunately can only be made on the matchday itself due to the unpredictable weather.
The second round of the Malaysia Cup is scheduled to be played this Friday and Saturday.
On Monday, Kuala Lumpur recorded an API reading of 152 at 2pm.
