MSL Wrap: Kedah lose top spot but remain unbeaten

Pahang are the new leaders of the Malaysia Super League (MSL) after Kedah could only manage a 1-1 draw against Selangor on Wednesday.

Pahang moved to the top after defeating PKNS 3-0 on Tuesday, but Kedah would have reclaimed that spot had they collected maximum points at Selayang Stadium.

Kedah, who are the only team unbeaten in the MSL so far, took the lead through a returning Sandro Da Silva Mendonca in the 81st minute.

Selangor's pursuit of an equaliser was rewarded in stoppage-time as Juliano Mineiro scored his third goal in two matches. The Brazilian-born midfielder scored both goals in Selangor's 2-0 win over Kelantan last week.

Pahang's scoring prowess is the reason why they are top dogs for now

Selangor remained in third on 12 points while Kedah are one point adrift of leaders Pahang, who have amassed 16 points thanks to their goalscoring exploits this season. Pahang are the highest scorers with 20 goals in seven matches.

Perak, who are level on 11 points with defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), dropped to fifth after their shock loss to Kelantan at home despite taking the lead through a Vladislav Mirchev header. Lebanese striker Mohamad Ghaddar later turned on the style to bag a hat-trick as Kelantan prevailed 4-2 to end their four-match losing streak.

In other matches, Penang collected their first points after a 1-1 draw with Malacca while Felda United drew 1-1 with T-Team.

JDT, meanwhile, recorded a 2-0 win over Sarawak in Kuching on Tuesday.
