Pahang and Kedah to meet in FA Cup final

Kedah and Pahang will meet in next Saturday's FA Cup final, after defeating Premier League opponents respectively...

Kedah turned on the style to reach the FA Cup final after a 3-0 win over Terenggganu, setting up a mouth-watering clash with East Coast giants Pahang next Saturday.

Pahang defeated Negeri Sembilan 2-1 in the second leg at Paroi Stadium to win their semi-final tie 3-1 on aggregate.

Korean defender Lee Jaewon opened the scoring after six minutes but Negeri drew level through Bruno Suzuki Castanheira in the 68th minute. Needing two more to turn the tie around, the Deer started to pick up their pace, but Christie Jayaseelan put the tie beyond any doubt in the final minutes of the match.

Castanheira (third from left) grabbed a lifeline for Negeri, but it was too little too late

In Kuala Terengganu, Kedah also got off to a great start as imports Liridon Krasniqi and Ken Ilso scored within 30 minutes to effectively end the tie as the Red Eagles had won the first leg 1-0. Brazilian Sandro da Silva increased the lead in the second half as Kedah marched to the final 4-0 on aggregate.

Kedah and Pahang will meet at Shah Alam Stadium on Saturday, May 20.
