Veron appointed Frenz International Cup 2015 ambassador

Former Argentina and Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has signed up as a global ambassador of the Frenz International Cup 2015.

The Argentine legend will join former Liverpool star Steve McMahon, Technical Advisor of Frenz United, as ambassadors of the Under-18 tournament, which will be jointly held in Malaysia and Indonesia from January 3rd-14th, 2015.

“I am honoured to be part of this prestigious tournament because it is a fantastic initiative and a platform for international exposure for these talented boys,” said the Argentine who is currently President of Estudiantes FC, one of the 16 clubs competing in the upcoming tournament.

“I believe this tournament will be a key international event over the coming years and I am proud my club and I are a part of this long-term project.

“From my experience, a tournament with such a great list of participating teams from all around the world during this crucial development phase of a player is invaluable.

“Just ask any current football star and they will tell you how important it was to have this sort of experiences which has tremendous direct impact to their growth.”

As Asia’s premier youth football tournament, the Frenz International Cup is organised to promote the continued development of young athletes and has seen a rise in stature in recent years.

English clubs Tottenham Hotspurs and Liverpool will participate in the 2015 edition alongside Valencia (Spain), Porto (Portugal), Feyenoord (Netherlands), Besiktas (Turkey), Estudiantes (Argentina), Internacional (Brazil), Gamba Osaka (Japan), Kashima Antlers (Japan), Guangzhou Evergrande (China), AIFF (India), Chonburi (Thailand), PVF Vietnam, Frenz United Malaysia and Frenz United Indonesia.
