Nelo Vingada spent just seven months as head coach of the Malaysia national team. But, like many before him, he found that was more than enough time to develop a deep affection for the beautiful country and its friendly residents – as well as an opinion that Malaysian players are better than they realise.

Malaysia will have their best players in the Harimau Malaya squad once more after Nelo Vingada's inaugural call-up list included a number of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) players, including Safiq Rahim, S. Kunanlan, Izham Tarmizi Roslan and Fazly Mazlan.
