Almunia ready for Arsenal return

Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has declared himself fit for the Gunners’ Premier League clash with Middlesbrough on Sunday. The Spaniard has been missing since sustaining an ankle injury during the Gunners' Champions League quarter-final first leg with Villarreal at El Madrigal.

And although he will not be fit to face Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, the 31-year-old former Osasuna stopper believes he will be available to return against Gareth Southgate's strugglers at the Emirates Stadium on April 26 and - crucially - be ready to tackle Manchester United in the Champions League semi-finals next week.

“The Liverpool game on Tuesday is a bit too early," he said. “But I’ll be totally ready for Boro on Sunday.”
