Arshavin: Arsenal vs Spurs is 'the' derby

Arsenal forward Andriy Arshavin has revealed he cannot wait for Saturday's North London derby with Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.

The sides shared a thrilling 4-4 draw at the same venue almost exactly a year ago, in what was only manager Harry Redknapp's second game in charge of the club after succeeding Juande Ramos at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham's impressive start to the 2009/10 campaign has added extra spice to the clash on Saturday lunchtime, with the visitors level on points with the Gunners, trailing only on goal difference.

And Russian international Arshavin - who has already netted five times this season - says he was schooled about the intense rivalry with their North London rivals shortly after signing on the dotted line in February.

"For us this is the most important derby and we know it," he told the club's official website.

"I found out about the importance of these matches almost immediately after I signed for Arsenal.

"People who work for the club told me about it and about the most memorable clashes with Spurs.

"They told me that after some defeats they couldn't even speak to each other for a long time."
