Atletico whistled off after latest setback

MADRID – Atletico Madrid just need one positive result to put a poor early season run behind them, coach Abel Resino said on Wednesday after his side conceded a late equaliser to draw 2-2 at home to Almeria.

Atletico have just two points from four La Liga matches and the players and staff were whistled from the pitch on Wednesday.

They made a disappointing start in the Champions League too, drawing 0-0 at home to APOEL Nicosia, and that has led to speculation in the media about Resino's future.

"The biggest problem we have is one of spirit due to us not getting the results we need," Resino said at a news conference after Wednesday's game.

"We can talk about tactics and systems but in football the only thing that lifts you are results."

"I am calm and working well," he added. "One game will change everything but we need that game to come."
