Bent set to snub Capello invite
The 25-year-old has shone since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for the Black Cats during the close-season, and is currently second in the Premier League goal-scoring charts with six strikes, one behind Liverpool talisman Fernando Torres.
Despite being the most profilic English striker in the top division in 2009/10, Bent has yet to convince Capello, last featuring for his country in the 2-1 friendly win in Germany last November.
All of the players who have appeared for England since Capello took charge have received invites to Wembley on Wednesday to witness the Three Lions complete their successful World Cup qualifying campaign against Belarus.
But, according to the Sunderland Echo, Bent is set to stay in the North East to prepare for this weekend's Premier League action, with the Wearsiders hosting Liverpool at the Stadium of Light.
