Bordeaux boss Laurent Blanc says he will not let sought-after striker Marouane Chamakh join Sunderland as they are not a big enough club. The in-demand 25-year-old recently revealed that he had agreed terms with four Premier League clubs - Sunderland, Blackburn, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur - with Arsenal also believed to be pondering an approach for the forward. And although Bordeaux president Jean Louis Triaud previously ridiculed the idea of their prize asset joining the North East outfit, the Wearsiders were believed to be closing in on the signing of the Moroccan front-man, who has netted 15 goals for his country. Bruce is keen to add to his strikeforce this summer after being snubbed by Portsmouth front-man Peter Crouch, with Tottenham Hotspur goal-getter Darren Bent being tipped to sign on at the Stadium of Light. However, former Manchester United defender Blanc has insisted that the Black Cats are simply not worthy enough of taking Bordeaux's prize asset away from the Stade Chaban Delmas, and that he will block the English club's attempts to sign Chamakh at every turn. "I am going to do everything to make sure he does not go to just any club," he told L'Equipe. "With him, things are clear. After the season he's had, if he has to go, it will be to a big club. That's why I am standing in the way of a departure to Sunderland. "I am not going to change what I said to him at the start of the year. If an offer comes from a big club, I will not stand in the way. The door is half-open. "Players with Marouane's profile are difficult to find. He is someone who has showed enormous progress in his efficiency. "Abroad, he has an image of a good striker who scores little. It is why I would like him to stay, to score between 15 and 20 goals with us and that people can realise he is a goalscorer."
