Hull City's record signing Jimmy Bullard will have surgery on his knee on Wednesday in the United States, the Premier League club said. "Jimmy will be having an arthroscopy to deal with a tear in his cartilage," the Tigers said on their website without saying how long he would be out of action. "Hull City agree with Jimmy that the best man to perform this procedure is the surgeon who dealt with his knee injury while he was playing for Fulham. "Jimmy will therefore be going to Denver, where the surgeon is based, for this treatment." The former Wigan midfielder suffered a career-threatening cruciate knee ligament injury in September 2006, which ruled him out for 18 months after collapsing following a challenge with Newcastle's Scott Parker while playing for Fulham.
