Chile fans halt training to insult team

SANTIAGO - Chilean police intervened on Friday when about 100 Universidad Catolica fans interrupted training and insulted the players and Marco Antonio Figueroa, the coach that many want sacked.

Some supporters were arrested for invading the practice grounds. The team have had poor results this year in the Apertura championship and in the South American Libertadores Cup despite reaching last year's Clausura final.

"The manner in which they came in shows there is an aggressive attitude. Without doubt that is not the way. We're sorry and hope it won't happen again," the club's general manager Felipe Achondo told reporters.

Catolica lost 2-0 at Flamengo in a Libertadores Cup Group Eight match in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, their fourth successive defeat in all competitions.
