Cologne fans banned from Hoffenheim

BERLIN - Cologne fans have been banned from attending their team's Bundesliga match at Hoffenheim on April 10 because of crowd trouble in past league and German Cup matches, the German football federation said on Tuesday.

Cologne have been ordered to compensate Hoffenheim for the loss of ticket revenues and have been fined 30,000 euros for the rowdy behaviour of their fans in five away games, which included lighting flares and firecrackers, the FA said.

"We have accepted the verdict in order to avoid a worst case scenario of part or full ban of our fans for home games," Cologne manager Michael Meier told the club's website.
