Deportivo Quito debt ban lifted

QUITO - Ecuador's champions Deportivo Quito paid their debts and had a suspension lifted on Friday in time to play their first division match against Manta, the Ecuadorean Football Federation (FEF) said.

"Deportivo Quito paid the debt... (They) can play this Friday against Manta in the first match of the fourth round of the domestic championship," the FEF said in a statement posted on its website.

The club were suspended indefinitely in midweek over a debt of $207,517 with the FEF and two of the club's former players and were told they would lose the points from their match with Manta if they did not settle it by Friday.

Ecuador's tax authorities also lifted a ban on the club's training complex, closed a week ago over unpaid taxes.

Deportivo won for the first time last weekend after two defeats in the 2010 championship.
