Fans urged to watch Olympic football

With ticket applications for the London 2012 Olympic games set to open on March 15, Aston Villa forward Ashley Young, Chelsea trio Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Petr Cech, Arsenal's Robin van Persie and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand have all encouraged supporters to sign up and witness the world’s top teams and young players compete on British soil.

Football will be the first Olympic event with ­matches starting two days before the opening ceremony on July 25 and running until August 11.
