ATHENS - Greek champions Olympiakos will have to wait to begin the defence of their Super League title after their derby against AEK Athens was postponed on Sunday due to the wildfires raging on the outskirts of Athens. "The dramatic developments in north-eastern Attica and the respect for human life, the health of fans and players have made it necessary for this decision to be taken," the Super League said in a statement. The match between Panionios and PAOK was also postponed. A huge wildfire fanned by strong winds cut a swathe of destruction near Athens on Sunday, burning houses, razing large patches of forest and sending thousands fleeing their homes, authorities said. Dark plumes of smoke hung over the Acropolis as the flames, raging unchecked for a second day, reached the Greek capital's northern suburbs.
